Admissions

 

Application deadlines

Applicants can apply for the Master's and Doctoral degree programs each year in the months of August and March, with entry in the following semester.  For the March 2016 entry the application will be open August 3-31.

 

Exams and interviews

International applicants are required to undergo both exams and interviews at the admission process unless applying through the PEC/PG Agreement, whose candidates are exempted from these requirements.

 

Application materials

  1. Application form (with applicant's photo uploaded or attached)
  2. Letters of recommendation (two)
  3. Copy of birth or marriage certificate
  4. Lattes résumé (CNPq), updated and printed. Include printed copies of the published papers indicated in the Lattes database: (1) for Master degree applicants - abstracts in scientific event proceedings, full papers published in conference proceedings, papers accepted for publication or published in journals; (2) for Doctoral degree applicants - full papers published in conference proceedings, papers accepted for publication or published in journals.
  5. Official transcripts from the undergraduate institution
  6. Copy of the undergraduate degree diploma (front and back). Students whose diplomas have not yet been issued should submit an official document indicating the date of conclusion and degree earned. Students who are still atending undergraduate school should submit an official letter indicating that they are potentially eligible to graduate 
  7. Official transcripts from the graduate institution (Doctoral program applicants only)
  8. Master degree diploma (Doctoral program applicants only). Students whose diplomas have not yet been issued should present an official document indicating the date of conclusion and degree earned. Students who are still atending the graduate program should submit an official letter indicating that potential date of the dissertation exam. Graduate diplomas obtained in countries other than Brazil, applicants should additionally submit a recognition or equivalence of the diploma.
  9. Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese for foreigners (CELPE-BRAS), intermediary or higher level.
