Agreement is valid for five years

On August 19th, Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (USP/ESALQ) signed an international academic agreement with the School of Agriculture from the University of Buenos Aires (FAUBA) in order to promote activities to develop greater educational integration in Mercosul, especially between Brazil and Argentina, and strengthen the development of Argentine-Brazilian programs through the growth of bilateral trade on a scientific level. The meeting to sign the agreement, which is valid for five years, took place in Argentina and was attended by the vice-dean and president of International Relations Committee (CAInt) from ESALQ, Marisa Aparecida Bismara Regitano d’Arce, and by the president of Graduate Studies Committee, Luis Eduardo Aranha Camargo. The dean and vice-dean from FAUBA, Rodolfo A. Golluscio and Marcela Gally, respectively, were also present.

The agreement, named “BrAr – Agri: development of measures to strengthen educational programs between Brazil and Argentina”, aims for academic cooperation in the areas of Agriculture, Food and Environment, in order to promote the exchange of professors/researchers, graduate and undergraduate students (with mutual recognition of undergraduate studies) and members of the technical and administrative staff from both institutions, and the educational development of the various institutions that are part of the agreement, seeking actions to promote the Argentine technology and technical proposal.

As goals and ways of cooperation, professors/researchers will attend conferences, teaching and/or research, and the stay should not exceed one academic year. Undergraduate and graduate students will be appointed by their home institution based on academic excellence, and the acceptance will be responsibility of the host institution. Each student shall follow a program developed jointly by the two institutions, and the stay should not exceed one academic year, except in cases of double degree diploma. Members of the technical and administrative staff can participate in order to encourage the exchange of experiences and administrative expertise in areas of common interest, and wages will be paid by the home institution.
