ESALQ signs academic agreement with North Carolina State University

Last June, the University of São Paulo (USP) - “Luiz de Queiroz” College of Agriculture (ESALQ) and North Carolina State University (NCSU) signed an international agreement in Raleigh, USA, in order to promote academic exchange and technical cooperation for joint research projects in Environmental and Agricultural Sciences. The agreement was signed by the dean of USP/ ESALQ, José Vicente Caixeta Filho, in the presence Mr. David Dixon, coordinator of international programs at NCSU.

The proposed international cooperation emerged in a meeting held in March this year at the Campus of USP in São Paulo, where the vice-dean and president of International Activities (CAINT) from USP/ESALQ, Marisa Aparecida Bismara Regitano d'Arce, the dean of International Relations from NCSU, Bailian Li, and David Dixon initiated discussions on specific cooperation between ESALQ and NCSU. Since then, negotiations have progressed to the formalization of the current and first agreement between the two institutions, especially in the areas of Forestry, Agriculture, Food, Environment, Economics and Administration.

North Carolina State University

The North Carolina State University (NCSU) was founded on March 7, 1887. With over 34,000 students and approximately 8,000 faculty and staff, it is recognized worldwide for its performance in teaching and research in the areas of agricultural sciences, exact sciences, humanities and environmental engineering.

NC State University comprises 10 schools and colleges: College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Faculty of Design, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Natural Resources, School of Physics and Mathematical Sciences, College of Textiles, College of Veterinary Medicine.
